Summoning the hybrid energy of his country's dance music past, Liège dj/producer D-Nite fuses an EP of fluid, futuristic bass-heavy breakbeats. The Echoes EP, his debut on Fine Grains, follows on from releases on Ebrium and Bogoture.

'La cité ardente' is a fitting origin for the fervent nature of these tracks. The dream-like 'Late Night Tales' opens 'Echoes' with a skittering urgency before luring us into a driving bassline and hypnotic dancefloor-friendly state. Title track 'Echoes', further channels an unsettled electric energy with a building breakbeat teed up nicely at the mid-point with a breakdown Sasha & Digweed would be proud of. 'Calming Mantra' adds a nice, bass-heavy head nod platform, before the EP is closed out with a high-energy d'n'b banger - 'Stuck In a Dream'. H-Sik ups the ante on the energy front with a frenetic footwork re-work of the title track. Colombian producer blanali soothes 'Calming Mantra' with beautiful, warm tones.
